Technorati has helped metadata (also known as tags) useful for flickr and del.icio.us users.
Just go to technorati and type in tags:foobar where foobar where is the tag that you would search for. For example, go to technorati and search for tag:lantzilla Including all of the other crap that you would find, you will find flickr photos tagged with _lantzilla_.
“Erin”:http://www.erinmalone.com (my boss) was IMing with “Bradley”:http://www.bradleyallen.org (who works at technorati) last night, and he clued her in. Today, it launched.
I hope they start supporting “furl”:http://www.furl.net soon. Man, now I have to actually start categorizing my posts in meaningful ways. I have some work to do!

Hi Lance! I’m glad you’re blogging, adding photos to flickr, and are now tagging everything in a deep and meaningful way.
We only launched our tags service a few days ago, and already people have mentioned supporting furl, etc.
Since you and all of our mutual friends now at Yahoo! are true design gods, I wonder how you guys would envision multiple services (beyond flickr + technorati posts + delicious links)… all in one place.
In other words, how would such a feature be of service to YOU from a total user experience stand-point? Think about it and please get back to us.

Bradley, that’s an interesting point about how each one of these user-driven sites can be brought together by somebody like Yahoo! to enhance user experience. Would be great if you could share what you are hearing from your users.
Btw, I think tags are cool and have started using them in my Blog. The concept of tagging has moved the effort of categorizing web content which editors used to do before, to Web users who are either creating or consuming the content and hence can not only keep up with the pace at which content is created but also are knowledgeable about the content - a more scalable model which should only make the web a better place.
